Nice "side show" for production 4WD cars (GR N & R4)
Although you cannot compete for FRC points with a foreign license, all SM2-class competitors can take part in Autojahti 2014-series ("Car Hunt 2014"), where the grand prize is a car. A fast driver can take part in the final, which is run during the Tampere FRC event by participating in only three of the earlier FRC races. The rules for Car Hunt 2014 can be found below.
Finnish Rally Champioship 2014: "FRC2 Car Hunt" ("Autojahti") rules
The "FRC2 Car Hunt" is a supplementary competition ("side show") for the FRC2-class (SM2, 4wd production engine GR N and R) drivers in the Finnish Rally Championship 2014. The competition is organized by Hannu´s Rally Team. There is no formal registration or enrollment process, but instead all FRC2 drivers are entitled to compete for points in the initial rounds. The Car Hunt competition is open to both foreign and Finnish license holders.
These rules do not form a contract between the Organizer (Hannu´s Rally Team/Hannu Lehessaari), and the Car Hunt competitors. In case of problems or sanctions , or with regard to interpretation or clarification of the rules, the decisions will be made solely by the Organizer. When necessary, the Organizer will consult the Advisory Board including Kari Hytönen, Kai Tarkiainen, Henrik Frank and Risto Laine. After the Arctic Lapland Rally, the Advisory Board will also include the prevailing top three drivers of the competition. The Organizer will not make significant decisions or modifications to the rules with regard to the competitors or the competition unless the majority of the Advisory Board supports them. If a competitor feels they have been mistreated, they can appeal to the Organizer. Such an appeal from a competitor to the Organizer will always be processed by the Advisory Board before a decision is made.
If a competitor is disqualified from a rally, the case will always be processed by the Advisory Board. As a general rule, a disqualification leads to losing the corresponding points in Car Hunt as well. Time penalties based on false starts are already taken into account in the results of the individual special stages.
Competitors in the FRC2-class who are not entitled to Car Hunt 2014 points in the rally or a part of the rally, are excluded when counting the points for the Car Hunt competitors.
Car Hunt consists of five qualification rounds (Arctic, Mikkeli, Joensuu, Lapua and Turku) and the final round (Tampere). All FRC2-class competitors are entitled to score points in the first three rounds. During the fourth round in Lapua, only competitors who have started in at least one of the earlier rounds are entitled to score points. And during the fifth round in Turku, at least two starts in the earlier rounds are needed. To compete for points in the final round in Tampere, a competitor needs at least four starts in the earlier rounds, or three starts and at least one point based on rally´s final or special stage results.
Qualification rounds
The qualifications consists of the first five events in the FRC calendar. The competitor gets a point for starting a rally, and another point for finishing one, totaling two points for each fully completed event.
The competitor can score race result points by being in the top 10 of the final FRC2 results of the rally (1st place = 10p., 2nd place = 9p, ... 10th place = 1p.). Points can also be scored by being in the top 6 in special stage results (1st place = 6p., 2nd place = 5p., ... ,6th place = 1p.). Some special stages in each rally can be named super special stages, for which additional points are given.
The total points scored during the qualification rounds includes points scored from starting races, finishing races, race result points and special stage result points, including additional super special stage points. These points define the driver rankings at the end of the qualification rounds.
Final round (Tampere)
The final round consists of three parts: the quarterfinal (the 1st day of the rally), the semifinal (the 2nd day of the rally until the service break) and the final (the 2nd day of the rally after the service break). After two first pars only the (10 and 5) best drivers continue in this competition. These drivers are "gathered together" for the re-start like safety car does in F1 races. So the differences are very small in re-starts.
All competitors who have scored points in the qualification round and who have the necessary number of race starts as defined earlier are eligible to score points in the quarterfinal. The competitors get starting points for the final round based on their ranking at the end of the qualifications (1st = 10p., 2nd = 9p., ... , 10th = 1p.). For each special stage in the quarterfinal the top 10 competitors score special stage points (1st =10p, 2nd = 9p, ... ,10th =1p.). The total of starting points and special stage points with possible additional super special stage points defines the final result of the quarterfinal. The top 10 competitors will then continue to the semifinal taking place during the 2nd day of the rally while all the others are eliminated from the Car Hunt competition.
In the semifinal the competitors get starting points based on the quarterfinal results (1st = 10p., 2nd = 9p., ... , 10th = 1p.). Special stage points are given to the top 6 out of the drivers who are still included in the semifinal (1st = 6p., 2nd = 5p., ... , 6th = 1p.), with possible additional super special stage points. The total of these points defines the semifinal results. In case of a tie, the competitor with less starting points, and therefore more special stage points, will be ranked higher. The top 5 competitors will continue to the final while all the others are eliminated from the Car Hunt competition.
In the final the competitors get starting points based on the ranking of the semifinal (1st = 5p., 2nd = 4p., ... , 5th = 1p.). Special stage points are given to the top 5 drivers who are included in the final (1st = 5p., 2nd = 4p., ... , 5th = 1p.), with possible additional super special stage points. The total of these points defines the final results. In case of a tie, the competitor with less starting points, and therefore more special stage points, will be ranked higher. The winner of the Car Hunt is the driver with the most points after the final special stage, provided that they are not disqualified for example in a final technical inspection. In case none of the final drivers finishes the last special stage, the winner is defined based on the last special stage which at least one of the final competitors has finished.
The details of the last rally may still change when the itinerary and "structure" of the Tampere rally are clarified. However, the idea is to maintain the principle that the final result of the competition is defined only at the end of the final race. During the final (3-4 last stages in Tampere), the competitors will receive their current scores via a text message before the beginning of each stage.
The prize
Only the winner is awarded in the Car Hunt. The prize is a car with a retail price of around 25.000e+-20%. The exact model will be voted out of a few options by the competitors. The voting will take place after the first event and will be done based on the the scores of the competitors. The selection of prize cars will depend for example on the number of competitors in the FRC2-class. The car will be registered before being handed over to the winner, but the winner is responsible for all costs depending on or resulting from the prize car, such as possible taxes.
In case of any discrepancies between the Finnish and English versions of the rules, the Finnishversion is binding.
