Riku Tahko returns to special stages at Lammi - The team expanded during the corona break

14.08.2020 / Joni Pakarinen

The Ralli SM series, delayed by the coronavirus, will return from a long break in September. During the break, in addition to Riku Tahko, Tuukka Hallia and Tommi Heino, who drive SM3-class cars, are assigned to his team as drivers.

The Ralli SM series, which was suspended in March, will continue on the first weekend of September at Kouvola. The driving break of Riku Tahko, who is fourth in the SM2 class points, has not meant a break from the rally, as Tahko's team has grown by two drivers during the break. As Tahko drives Rally2kit Mini, young drivers Tuukka Hallia and Tommi Heino have joined with the R2 class Ford Fiestas.

- Lammi's Top Building Rally is Riku Tahko Rally Consulting's (RTRC) first test on a new scale. In addition to myself, the young guns driving test rally for the remainder of Finnish Championship rallies. From the first tests, it has become clear that both are talented drivers. Hopefully, with my experience, I will be able to pave the way for both in building a career, says Riku Tahko

The development of Tahko's own rally team is not planned to stay here, as next year there will be a place to rent behind wheel of the four-wheel-drive Mini Rally2kit, which currently serves Tahko himself. Despite the growth of the team, Tahko does not intend to become a team manager, but the competition at the top level will continue.

- RTRC offers young drivers the opportunity to succeed in motorsport. In addition to competitive equipment, I want to offer coaching to young drivers not only for driving, but also for media skills and personal branding. The RTRC team is made up of motorsport professionals so I can continue to focus fully on competition.

Before the continuation of the Finnish Rally Championship series, the team will be seen at the stages of the Top Building rally next weekend. Riku Tahko's mind is to build the best possible readiness for the SM2 class medal competition.

- The most important thing is to get the proper rally start before the Ralli SM series continues. The race break has been a long one since the winter and we have had a few tests run, but there is no test like competition.

The Lammi’s Top Building rally on Saturday will replace the Latvian European Championship rally previously in Riku Tahko's racing plans.
