Asunmaa fields the new Fabia RS Rally2 to Jyväskylä’s winter rally
Teemu Asunmaa heads to the third round of the Finnish championship, SM Jyväskylän Talviralli, in the lead of the championship. For the event, driven in the upcoming weekends, Asunmaa will be driving with TGS Skoda Motorsport's new generation Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Teemu Asunmaa, 35, along with his co-driver Ville Mannisenmäki, 27, are in the championship lead going into the third round of the Finnish Rally Championship. Held in Jyväskylä, more famous of its setting as the venue for WRC Finland, the two-day event ends the winter season of the championship.
-It’s going to be an interesting event, we haven’t driven in Jyväskylä during winter. In terms of the stages there should be a mixture of big and small roads according to maps. Of the stages driven in WRC Finland, only a part of special stage Moksi is familiar to us as it was driven last time in 2019. It’s nice to end the winter season on these nice roads.
The third event of the season also marks the debut of Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 with Asunmaa behind the wheel in an FRC event, and the new generation Fabia has been put to its paces by Asunmaa – Mannisenmäki pairing. The testing has also included an entry into national F-Cup season opener Tuuri Ralli near Asunmaa’s home of Alavus as a VIP course car.
-The tests have been good and without issues, and we’ve got a decent touch with the car already. The setup is developing all the time into more to our liking.
SM Jyväskylän Talviralli is contested on the 3rd and 4th of March in Jyväskylä. The two-day event consists of seven stages and 88,02 special stage kilometres. The rally is livestreamed to Moottoriurheilu.tv’s YouTube channel.
