KMS Racing’s and Diego Dominguez’s trip to Austria was a success

17.04.2023 / KMS Racing Press

KMS Racing competed in Austria’s Lavanttal Rallye last weekend with the Junior WRC driver Diego Dominguez. The rally acted as a pre-event test for the Paraguayan driver before the next weekend’s WRC Croatia.

KMS Racing, the official M-Sport partner in Finland, competed in last Friday and Saturday in the national Lavanttal Rallye in Austria. Driving the team’s Ford Fiesta Rally3 were Paraguayan driver Diego Dominguez and co-driver Rogelio Penate. The pair will be competing with Rally3 Fiesta in the next weekend’s WRC Croatia. Dominguez competed as a course car due to the rally’s status as a national rally, thus forbiting Dominguez from taking part in the overall competition.

The cooperation between KMS Racing and Dominguez, dating back to Otepää Talveralli last February, continued before the event with testing days on the tarmac roads of the Alpes. Lavanttal Rallye itself proved to be a good and challenging test in preparation for Croatia. The two-day event consisted of 12 stages and 152,18 special stage kilometres.

- Lavanttal Rallye was a very different experience comparing to events in the past. Stages were fast and conditions tricky with roads being dirty after cuts in some places. We also had unexpected snow during the vent, but overall, I enjoyed this rally very much. The car was perfect as always with KMS, and the team did a great job preparing the car and helping me with the setup. Now our focus is on WRC Croatia this week, Dominguez said of his debut in the Alpes.

Joining the test sessions were two-time Austrian champion Simon Wagner and last year’s Junior WRC champion, Estonia’s Robert Virves.

KMS Racing’s Ford Fiesta Rally3 travels from Austria to Latvia this week for testing. KMS Racing’s season in the Finnish Rally Championship continues 19th to 20th of May at Seinäjoki. KMS Racing is also present in the ERC Poland contested during the same weekend.
