Jalava aims for top three times in Latvia
Miko Jalava will compete in his second European Rally Championship event this coming weekend. After a challenging opening race in Poland, expectations are high as he takes on Latvia’s fast gravel stages.
Finnish rally driver Miko Jalava is set to compete in the fourth round of the European Rally Championship, Tet Rally Liepaja, held in Latvia this weekend. This race also serves as the second event in the Junior ERC series, featuring Jalava behind the wheel of Sparrow Racing Team's Ford Fiesta Rally4. In preparation, Jalava recently triumphed in the two-wheel-drive class at Multia.
"We're heading into this with a positive mindset. We also took our Toyota Starlet out for a spin at the Multia Rally to get into the groove. Matias Peippo, who has been my co-driver for the past two seasons, will be joining me in Liepaja. We have spent a lot of time driving together," Jalava shared.
Jalava hopes to capitalize on the lessons learned in Poland and expects the faster roads in Latvia to suit him better.
“Liepaja should be easier compared to Poland since it was our first ERC rally, and the roads there were quite different from what we are used to in Finland. The roads in Latvia are faster and should not have as much grooving," Jalava explained.
Jalava aims to improve upon his fifth-place finish in the Junior ERC class in Poland.
"We'll aim for a good flow right from the shakedown. If everything falls into place, the goal is to set competitive top three times and be among the frontrunners," Jalava concluded.
